Organic growth is often a source for slow but steady revenue gains. But what if you could board the express train to growth without costly acquisitions or risky partnerships?
Enter the innovation business unit or venture. As with any new venture, there are critical success factors that include governance, autonomy, funding, talent and structure. Drawing on decades of real-world corporate and startup management experience, combined with rigorous academic research, the experts at Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education have designed a blueprint for revenue growth through in-house measures. The six-week Innovation and Intrapreneurship: Winning Strategies for New Venture Creation online programme will help you identify critical innovation opportunities while setting up an independent unit for growth.
Over six weeks, the Innovation and Intrapreneurship: Winning Strategies for New Venture Creation online programme will help you to:
Understand why breakthrough innovation is important to organisations.
Examine the common characteristics of successful innovation ventures and the different approaches to implementing them within an organisation.
Influence senior leaders to support the independence of a new venture and explore the ideal degree of intelligence needed for it to be successful.
Identify the criteria for reintegrating an innovation venture into an organisation.
Create a plan for responding to disruption.
The tools and techniques taught in this programme will benefit a wide range of professionals across industries, geographic regions and functional roles. It is ideal for:
Strategic decision-makers who are seeking growth through new product innovations or new lines of business while managing the health of their existing businesses.
Innovation leaders who can leverage their functional expertise and/or entrepreneurial mindset to challenge the status quo, earning recognition and career advancement.
Innovation contributors who bring deep functional expertise to help drive new ideas, prototyping, testing and refining to achieve a faster time to market.
In the context of the overall business strategy, delve into scenarios when independent business units and ventures are most appropriate, along with the degree of independence required for these units to succeed.
Learn how to combat disruptive market threats as well as how to take advantage of new trends by experimenting within the boundaries of a dedicated innovation unit.
Leaning into psychology and behavioural sciences, you will distinguish hype cycles from real enduring opportunities using a framework that includes steps for screening innovations and navigating hype.
Learn practical ways to manage innovation units by creating the right culture, setting objectives that support innovation and applying best practices and techniques for testing solutions.
Innovation units are often associated with high risk, but they don’t have to be. Developing support internally and externally is critical to the success of these units, which can be accomplished through a variety of methods and strategies.
